Stolen newborn baby was rescued from City’s Phulmarket area on Friday noon. One accused female was arrested by the police. The arrestee is Nasima Akhter Shabana. Shafiqul Islam, officer in charge of Khulna Kotwali police station said, Sanjida Akhter Minu brought forth twine babies on Thursday morning at Khulna General Hospital. A gang of theives stole the male baby immediate after its birth. A case was lodged by Minu’s husband Idris Sheikh in this connection.
Police rescued the baby and arrested Shabana at around 3pm on Friday. Nurses also might be involved in the occurence, police suspect. Dr. Mahbubur Rahman, RMO of the hospital said that perhaps this is the first ever incident of stealing newborn baby in Khulna.
