2 AL leaders shot dead in dists

Two top local leaders of Awami League (AL) were shot dead by unidentified criminals in Bandarban and Satkhira.
The victims are Mong Mong Thoi Marma, 50, President of Taracha union unit AL in Rowangchhari upazila of Bandarban, and Nazrul Islam, 63, Vice-President of Agardari union unit AL in Sadar upazila of Satkhira, our local correspondents report quoting police.
In Bandarban, body of Mong Mong Thoi Marma
was recovered from Shamuk Jhiri area on Rowangchhari-Bandarban road after locals informed about it to a local chairman around 12:45pm, reports our Bandarban orrespondent quoting Shariful Islam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Rowangchhari Police Station.
Thoi Marma was travelling in the city riding a bike from a preparation meeting of the party, the police official said.
Law enforcers recoverd the bike bearing bullet marks in it, the OC added.
The Superintendent of Police of Bandarban, Zakir Hossain, said that a joint force, including police and army, launched a manhunt to arrest the culprits.
In Satkhira, the incident took place at Hanzapara on Satkhira-Boikali road around 11:00am, Rabiul Islam, younger brother of Nazrul Islam, told our Satkhira correspondent. The spot is about a half kilometre away from his brother’s residence, Rabiul said.
Earlier, in 2013, unidentified criminals shot dead his elder brother Sirajul Islam and Sirajul’s son Kobirul Islam, he said.
However, Palash, son of the victim, said his father might have been killed following an enmity with former UP member Towhidul.
