Stocks witness upward trend on higher transaction

Stocks finished the session of the week on Tuesday in green as major indices of both the Dhaka and Chittagong Stock exchanges were found upward trend with higher transaction of some large-cap securities.
Among rising major sectors were banks and financial institutions. Insurance and food and allied were the major lagging sectors in the day.
The broader DSEX index of DSE scored 39.49 points to rise up to 5737.42. The blue-chip DS30 and the Shariah DSES also were in the following trend at 2095.19 by achieving 23.40 points and at 1297.38 by acquiring 0.66 points respectively.
The CSE also closed the day upward with its major CASPI index closing at 17800.79 by scoring 123.91 points.
The transactions at DSE were 29.68 crore shares valued at total Taka 995.94 crore.
At DSE, out of the day’s 328 traded issues, price of 120 securities closed higher against 171 losing issues. At CSE, issues traded were 251 while 102 closed higher against 122 closing lower.
The major gaining issues were DBH, Brac Bank, NHFIL, Salvo Chemical and City Bank. The major losing issues were Northern Insurance, Zeal Bangla, Asian Tiger, SEML Lecture Mutual Fund and Fareast Knitting.
