Stocks witness flat on lower transactions

Stock markets witnessed flat on Thursday when daily transactions declined on lower demand.
The day’s trade value at DSE declined to Taka 523.92 crore from Wednesday’s Taka 544.44 crore and the daily trade fell to 16.24 crore shares from 16.41 crore shares of the previous session.
The border DSEX index of Dhaka Stock Exchange closed the day with 1.13 points up at 5,413.82. The blue-chip DS30 also followed the same trend with 2.11 points up at 2011.37. But the Shariah DSES closed the day with 3.06 points down at 1260.57.
At DSE, out of the day’s 322 securities, prices of 119 securities closed higher against 162 losing issues.
The major gaining issues were MHSML, Prime Insurance, BATBC, Northern Jute and Asia Insurance. The major losing issues were First Security Bank, Karnaphuli Insurance, First Finance, Reliance Insurance and Standard Insurance.
RSRM Steel topped the turnover list followed by Active Fine, Ifad Autos, UPDGCL and MHSML. The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with upward trend with its major CASPI 20 points up at 16756.59.
At CSE, issues traded 230 while 82 closed higher against 108 closed lower when 1.13 crore shares worth Taka 32.90 crore changed hands.
