Stocks witness flat on lower transactions

Stock markets finished the second session of the week on Monday flat when daily transactions declined on lower demand.
The day’s trade value at DSE declined to Taka 330.82 crore from Sunday’s Taka 378.79 crore and the daily trade fell to 9.32 crore shares from 10.82 crore shares of the previous session.
The broader DSEX index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the day with 1.09 point down at 5,557.57.
The Shariah DSES also followed the same trend with 0.60 point down at 1,300.93. But the blue-chip DS30 closed the day with 0.50 point up at 2,075.87.
At DSE, out of the day’s 339 securities, prices of 134 securities closed higher against 135 losing issues.
The major gaining issues were SIBL, Eastern Lubricant, Standard Insurance, ILFSL and ITC. The major losing issues were Modern Dying, Shyampur Sugar, Tallu Spinning, Queen South and HRTEX.
WMSHIPYARD topped the turnover list followed by UPGDCL, DSSL, Beximco and Brac Bank.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with downward with its major CASPI 53.66 points down at 17,142.14.
At CSE, issues traded 226 issues. Of those, 78 closed higher and 108 closed lower when 17.99 crore shares worth Taka 68.51 lakh changed hands.
