Stocks witness flat on lower transactions

Stock markets witnessed flat on Monday when daily transactions declined on lower demand.
The day’s trade value at the DSE declined to Taka 549.86 crore from Sunday’s Taka 576.54 crore and the daily trade fell to 16.76 crore shares from 17.57 crore shares of the previous session.
The broader DSEX index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the day with 5.78 points up at 5,296.55. The blue-chip DS30 also followed the same trend with 0.48 point up at 1,855.96. But, the Shariah DSES closed the day with 0.96 point down at 1,225.35.
At the DSE, prices of 176 securities out of the day’s 339 closed higher against 110 losing issues.
The major gaining issues were KDSALTD, Keya Cosmetic, IBP, Wata Chemical and Sonali Ansh. The major losing issues were Takaful Insurance, VAMLBDMF1, LRGLOBMF1, MPETROLEUM and ITC.
PTL topped the turnover list followed by Advent, IBP, KPCL and KTL. The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with upward trend with its major CASPI 38.11 points up at 16,264.52. At the CSE, a total of 243 issues were traded while 129 closed higher and 86 closed lower as 1.05 crore shares worth Taka 26.85 crore changed hands.
