Stocks show recovery after six-day fall

Stocks on Tuesday showed a recovery trend after witnessing fall in the past six trading sessions due mainly to higher activities of large-cap securities despite lower transactions.
The major rising sectors were engineering, food and allied, pharmaceuticals and chemicals and textile. A total of 132 securities of the large-cap group moved up due to higher activities.
The broader index DSEX of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) finished the session of the week with 33.09 points up at 5,346.80. The Shariah DSES and the blue-chip DS30 also closed the day with 8.02 points up at 1,243.04 and with 7.42 points up at 1,980.43.
The trade value at DSE decreased to Taka 382.29 crore from the previous session’s Taka 402.05 crore and the trade volume also fell to 7.80 crore from 8.38 crore shares of Monday’s trading.
Out of the 334 issues traded on DSE, 163 gained against 106 losing issues.
The five major gaining companies were BD Auto Cars, Gemini Sea Food, Libra Infusion, Queen South Textile and Style Craft. The five major losing companies were MBL1STMF, AIBL1STIMF, Dulamia Cotton, Central Insurance and Safko Spinning.
The top five turnover leaders were AIL, Monno Ceramics, Beximco, Shaha Denimis and Square Pharma.
Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed the day up, with its major CASPI index ending 112.04 points higher at 16,482.41.
