Stocks see upward trend on higher transactions

Stocks witnessed upward trends on Tuesday as major indices of both Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges rose up on higher transactions.
The day’s trade value at DSE increased to Taka 371.42 crore from Sunday’s Taka 359.72 crore and the daily trade also rose to 98.73 crore share from 87.25 crore share of the previous session.
The broader DSEX of DSE closed the day with 8.26 points up at 6,167.57. The blue-chip DS30 and the Shariah DSES also followed the same trend with 13.87 points up at 2,244.93 and with 5.05 points up at 1,372.02.
At DSE, out of the day’s 335 securities, prices of 108 securities closed higher against 174 losing issues.
The major gaining issues were Lafarge Surma Cement, ALIF, BDLAMPS, BSC and Rupali Bank. The major losing issues were Emerald Oil, Meghna Condense Milk, Beach Hatchery, Pragati Insurance and Meghna Petroleum.
Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited topped the turnover list followed by City Bank, ALIF, Square Pharma and Shahjalal Bank.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with upward trends with its major CASPI 26.13 points up at 19,083.86. At CSE, 238 issues were traded. Of those, 110 closed higher and 49 closed lower.
