Stocks see upward trend on higher transactions

Stocks witnessed upward trends on Monday as major indices of both Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges rose up on higher transactions.
The day’s trade value at DSE increased to Taka 671.99 crore from Sunday’s Taka 538.49 crore and the daily trade also rose to 16.37 crore share from 14.97 crore share of the previous session.
The broader DSEX of DSE closed the day with 31.52 points up at 6,104.51. The blue-chip DS30 and the Shariah DSES also followed the same trend with 10.12 points up at 2,208.48 and with 1.42 points up at 1,325.85.
At DSE, out of the day’s 332 securities, prices of 118 securities closed higher against 170 losing issues.
The major gaining issues were Style Craft, EBL, MERCINS, FAREASTLIF and BD Thai. The major losing issues were Savar EFR, ITC, SIM Tex, First Finance and AMBEEPHA.
OIMEX topped the turnover list followed by City Bank, Ifad Autos, BRAC Bank and Lanka Bangla Finance.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with upward trends with its major CASPI 108.67 points up at 18,932.07. At CSE, 240 issues were traded. Of those, 105 closed higher and 109 closed lower.
