Stocks plunge further on large-cap selling

Stock market plunged further on Tuesday due mainly to the sell pressures for large-cap securities. The sell pressure,however, drove the daily transaction significantly high.
Among the large-cap group, shares of MJLBD, SPCL and some other securities from cement, food and allied, textile and NBFI sectors were traded actively. The market was also in favour of buyers, with majority of issues traded closing lower.
The broader index DSEX of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) finished the day 14.16 points down at 4563.68. The Shariah DSES and blue-chip DS30 followed it by 5.10 points lower at 1111.87 and 5.98 points down at 1756.92 respectively.
Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed the day down, with its major CASPI index closing over 53.90 points down at 13,998.44.
The daily trade value at the country’s premier bourse was up by nearly 32.0 percent to Taka 589.40 crore while the volume rose by around 10.33 percent to 12.93 crore shares. Among the traded 319 issues at DSE, 148 closed lower against 113 gaining issues. At CSE, 124 issues lost when 90 finished the day higher.
