Stocks open week mixed on higher transactions

Stocks performed mixed on Monday with major indices finishing flat despite increasing the daily transactions, which rose at the market that prevented price indices from sharp decline.
The daily transactions at the two markets rose considerably. The trade value at Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) increased to Taka 925.88 crore from Thursday’s Taka 624.84 crore and the trade volume was up to 31.42 crore from 20.49 crore shares of the last session.
The broader DSEX index at DSE closed the day with 0.11 points up at 6,092.95. The Shariah DSES and the blue-chip DS30 closed the day with 10.88 points down at 1334.97 and with 0.79 points down at 2,176.82.
At DSE, out of the day’s 328 securities, prices of 73 securities closed higher against 227 losing issues.
The major gaining issues were Dhaka Bank, Islami Bank, Exim Bank, Bank Asia and Sonar Bangla Insurance. The major losing companies were Northern Insurance, Fine Foods, Miracle Industries, BD Auto Cars and Hakkani Pulp.
Aamra Net topped the turnover list followed by Exim Bank, Islami Bank, Premier Bank and Dhaka Bank.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with downward trend with its major CASPI 21.78 points up at 18,903.39.
At CSE, 233 issues were traded. Of those, 54 closed higher and 160 closed lower when 1.94 crore shares worth Taka 56.81 crore changed hands.
