Stocks open week flat, transaction declines

Stock markets opened the week flat on Sunday when daily transactions declined on lower demand.
The boarder DSEX index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the first day of the week 7.26 points down at 5533.45. The blue-chip DS 30 also followed the same trend with 0.29 point down at 2033.43. But the Shariah DSES closed the day with 2.93 points up at 1278.01.
The trade value at DSE declined to Taka 737.73 crore from the previous session Taka 758.83 crore while the trade volume also fell to 24.52 crore from 24.86 crore shares of Thursday trading.
Among the traded 323 issues at DSE, 150 closed higher against 143 losing issues.
The five major gaining companies were Central Insurance, Rupali Bank, Mercantile Insurance, Continental Insurance and INTECH.
