Stocks open week flat, transaction declines

After passing a consolidation period in last week, stock markets opened the week flat on Sunday as stocks remained range bound around the 4570 to 4580 level and investors might have lost fresh buying interest reflecting by the daily turnover.
The trade value on Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) fell by nearly 23.71 percent to Taka 335.92 crore and the volume declined by 26.75 percent to 8.62 crore shares.
The broader DSEX of DSE closed the session of the week 2.72 points up at 4577.09. But the Shariah DSES and blue chip DS30 closed the day 1.45 points down at 1122.03 and 4.62 points down at 1776.40 respectively.
The general CASPI index of Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) was 6.24 points up at 14073.05.
Among the traded 324 issues at DSE, 143 closed lower against 124 gaining issues. At CSE, among the traded 251 issues, 91 closed lower issues against 115 gaining issues.
The DSE top five gaining companies were Beach Hatchery Limited, SEML Lecture Equity Management Fund, Ambee Pharma, Style Craft and Prime Tex. The major losers included Meghna PET, Imam Button, Dulamia Cotton, Shyampur Sugar and Meghna Condensed Milk.
Envoy Tex topped the turnover list followed by SPCL, MJL BD, BSC and BSRM Limited.
