Stocks opened week down as major sectors closing the session with falling trend at both Dhaka and Chittagong Stock exchanges on Sunday.
The falling major sectors included textile and pharmaceuticals and chemicals. A total of 131 securities of the large-cap group incurred losses due to lower activities.
The broader index DSEX of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) finished the session by 6.87 points down at 5,775.60. The blue-chip DS30 and Shariah DSES followed it by 0.62 point down at 2121.17 and by 2.36 points down at 1311.34 respectively.
Out of the traded 328 issues, 163 suffered losses across the board while the trade value fell to Taka 477.97 crore from Thursday’s Taka 636.63 crore and the volume to 14.46 crore shares from Thursday’s 19.42 crore shares.
The major gaining issues were Safko Spinning, Monno Ceramic, Hakkani Pulp, Continental Insurance and Northern Insurance. The major losing companies were Sonargaon, MERCINS, Imam Button, SAVAREFR and BD Auto Cars. Ifad Autos topped the turnover leaders followed by Mercantile Bank, Navana CNG, Lanka Bangla Finance and RSRM Steel.
