Stocks open week down as major sectors dip

Stocks open week down as major sectors closing the session with falling trend at both Dhaka and Chittagong Stock exchanges on Monday.
Among the falling major sectors were insurance and food and allied when 150 securities of the large-cap group incurred loss due to lower activities. Financial institutions and textile sectors advanced at the day’s closing marginally.
The broader index DSEX of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) finished the first session of the week 28.30 points down at 5697.93.
The Shariah DSES and the blue-chip DS30 also followed it by 4.76 points down at 1296.72 and by 4.87 points down at 2071.79.
Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also opened the week down, with its major CASPI index closing ended over 81.39 points down at 17,676.89.
The daily turnover in value at DSE was Taka 777.15 crore and the volume of shares was 24.95 crore. Among the traded 326 issues at DSE, 189 closed lower against 97 gaining issues.
At CSE, 142 issues lost when 79 finished the day higher. The top five gaining companies were Premier Leasing, ICB, ETL, Anlima Yarn and Lanka Bangla Finance.
The major losers included Padma Life, Rahima Food, United Insurance, Northern Jute and Fareast Finance.
Lanka Bangla Finance topped the turnover list followed Beximco, ICB, RSRM Steel and AB Bank.
