Stocks open week down as major sectors dip

Stocks open week down as major sectors closing the session with falling trend at both Dhaka and Chittagong Stock exchanges on Sunday.
Among the falling major sectors were textile, tannery industries and pharmaceuticals and chemicals. A total of 166 securities of the large-cap group incurred loss due to lower activities. The broader DSEX index of the DSE closed the session with 26.03 points down at 6,072.99. The Shariah DSES and the blue-chip DS30 also followed the same trend with 4.67 points down at 1,324.43 and with 3.09 points down at 2,198.36.
The volume of shares fell to 14.97 crore from Thursday’s 20.79 crore shares and the daily turnover in value at DSE decreased to Taka 538.49 crore from Taka 675.92 crore of the previous session.
At DSE, out of the day’s 328 traded issues, price of 87 securities closed higher against 203 losing issues.
The major gaining issues were Monno Ceramics, Monno stafler, Fu Wang Food, Orion Infusion and Meghna Ceramics. The major losing issues were Style Craft, CAN Tex, Dulamia Cotton, Legacy Foot and JMISMDL.
