Stocks on both bourses close the week upward

Stocks on the country’s two bourses continued to maintain upward trend on Thursday, the last trading session of the week, as all indices of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) went up on higher transactions.
The day’s trade value at the DSE increased to Tk 577.47 crore from Wednesday’s Taka 561.49 crore but the daily trade volume declined to 15.62 crore share from 15.85 crore share of the previous session.
The broader DSEX of DSE closed the day with 20.47 points up at 5,843.47. The blue-chip DS30 and the Shariah DSES also followed the same trend with 13.40 points up at 2,204.17 and with 7.70 points up at 1,365.59 respectively.
At the DSE, out of the day’s 336 securities, prices of 110 securities closed higher against 181 losing issues.
Beximco topped the turnover list, followed by Al Arafah Bank, Brac Bank, United Power, Square Pharma and City Bank Limited.
Five top gaining issues were Al Arafah Bank, Sanali Ansh, Phenix Insurance, Hwawell Tex, Salvo Chemical while the major losing issues were Popular Life, Asia Pacific Insurance, Continental Insurance, First Prime Finance Mutual Fund and Federal Insurance.
