KWSP to supply water this year

Karnaphuli Water Supply Project of Chittagong will produce 143 million liters water per day to the consumers in the port cityfrom end of this year. In the meantime the work of 69 kilometer transmission line and the 3 reservors have been completed.
This was disclosed by the Managing Director of CWASA Engr. Fazlullah at a seminar on ‘On going water supply Project of JAICA ‘ jointly arranged at Hotel Agrabad in the city yesterday afternoon.
 He said following the supply of water from the KWSP , the sufferings of the people will ease to some extents. In his address of welcome, CWASA chief said out of the total demands of 500 million liters of water, CWASA is only supplying 210 m liters daily.
 He said the demands of the city dwellers could not be fulfilled in comparison with the increase of population in city . As such CWASA taken up two projects- Phase-1,and Phase-2 under KWSP with the financial assistance of the JAICA fund.
Among others, Chief town planner of Chittagog city corporation AKM Rezaul Karim, Managing Director of Kulna WASA Md.Abdullah, Managing Director of Rajshahi WASA Dhirendra Nath Sarkar , Joint Chief of Planning Commission Tasruk Hossain and JICA representative Mr.Taku Yama spoke in it, a CWASA sources said.
