Stocks maintain recovery on higher transactions

Stock markets closed on Wednesday upward maintaining recovery for the second consecutive session of the week on higher transactions of large-cap securities
The day’s trade value at DSE increased to Taka 547.26 crore from Tuesday’s Taka 400.70 crore and the daily trade also rose to 15.55 crore share from 12.66 crore share of the previous session.
The rising major sectors were food and allied, insurance and textiles. A total of 124 large-cap securities moved up due to higher market activities.
The broader DSEX of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) finished the day with 4.94 points up at 5459.72. The blue-chip DS30 also followed the same trend with 0.50 points up at 2027.14. But the Shariah DSES finished the day with 0.80 points down at 1260.19.
At DSE, out of the day’s 326 traded issues, 160 closed higher against 115 losing scrips.
The major gaining companies were Fine Foods, Asia Pacific Insurance, ICBSONALI1, Argon Denims and CMC Kamal. The major losing companies were YPL, United Insurance, Republic Insurance, Purabi General Insurance and Pragati Life Insurance.
BAT BC topped the turnover leaders followed by Central PHL, PTL, Argon Denims and BD Finance. The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with upward trend with its major CASPI 10.17 points up at 16920.25.
