Stocks maintain falling trend on both bourses

Stocks continued to maintain a falling trend today as all major indices on Dhaka and Chattogram stock exchanges witnessed marginal fall.
The turnover and the trade volume at DSE also witnessed a fall due to poor participation of investors.
The broader DSEX index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the day with a fractional 0.72 points down at 5,252.67. The Shariah DSES and the blue-chip DS30 also followed the same trend with 2.45 points down at 1,211.96 and with 4.63 points down at 1,863.96.
The daily trade fell to 10.28 crore shares from Monday’s 11.52 crore shares and the day’s trade value at DSE decreased to Tk 379.40 crore from Previous session’s Tk 435.33 crore.
At DSE, losers dominated the day’s trading as out of the day’s 342 securities, 135 gained against 154 losing issues. The five major gaining issues were Delta Life Insurance, Libra Infusion, National Life Insurance, Rupali Life and ML Dyeing. IBN Sina Pharma, Beach Hatchery, People’s Leasing, Aman Cotton, IT Consultant and Dulamia Cotton were the five major losing companies.
In the port city Chattogram, the CSE ended lower with its All Share Price Index – CASPI -shedding 46.18 points to close at 16,133.67. The losers beat the gainers as 134 issues closed down against 65 gaining issues on the CSE.
The port city bourse traded 61.59 lakh shares and mutual fund units worth Tk 18.91 crore in turnover.
