Stocks maintain downward trend for 2nd week

Like the previous week, stocks closed the week on Thursday with downward trends as all major price indices fell at Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges due to decline in the daily transactions amid volatility in large-cap securities.
Out of the five trading sessions of the week, three sessions closed lower while two closed positive.
During the week, the daily average trade value declined by 7.4 percent to Taka 365.39 crore and the average trade volume fell by 4.6 percent to 9.50 crore shares.
The broader DSEX of the DSE finished the week with 55.82 points down at 5,965.83. The blue-chip DS30 and Shariah DSES also followed the same trend with 2.44 points down at 2,225.48 and with 7.49 points down at 1,389.57 respectively. Out of the 338 issues traded on DSE, 103 gained against 224 losing issues.
The top five gainers of the week were Dulamia Cotton, Sonargaon, USMANIAGL, BANGAS and Modern Dying. The major losing issues of the week were GBB Power, OIMEX, BBS Cables, Miracle Industries, NAHEEACP and Padma Life.
The top five turnover leaders were Lanka Bangla Finance, Beximco Pharma, Square Pharma, GP and Monno Ceramics. Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed the week down, with its major CASPI index ending 195.41 points lower at 18,428.42.
