Stocks keep rising

Stocks in Dhaka bourse continued to rise for the second consecutive day on Wednesday.
The DSEX, the benchmark index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), surged 76 points, or 1.16 per cent, to 6,606 at the end of the day.
Both the DS30, the blue-chip index, and DSES, the shariah based index, went up 27 points and 10 points respectively.
Turnover of the DSE also rose to Tk 605 crore from the previous day’s Tk 599 crore.
At the DSE, 269 stocks advanced, 78 declined and 32 remained the same.
JMI Hospital Requisite Manufacturing topped the gainers’ list with about a 9.98 per cent rise. IPDC Finance, Bangladesh Shipping Corporation, Alif Industries, and Bangladesh Building Systems also saw major gains.
Aramit Ltd shed the most with a 1.99 per cent drop. Singer Bangladesh, Takaful Islami Insurance, Daffodil Computers, and Doreen Power were among the heavy losers.
Beximco Ltd became the most traded stock with shares worth Tk 53 crore changing hands followed by JMI Hospital, IPDC Finance, Bangladesh Shipping Corporation, and Bangladesh Building Systems.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also rose on Wednesday. The CASPI, the main index of the CSE, soared 218 points, or 1.13 per cent, to close the day at 19,450.
Of the 262 stocks traded, 172 rose, 66 fell, and 24 did not see any price movement.
