Stocks fall for 2nd day

The index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) dropped on Tuesday for the second consecutive day when the turnover also fell. The DSEX, the benchmark index of the DSE, fell, 23 points, or 0.33 per cent, to 7,036 at the end of the day. At the DSE, 112 stocks advanced, 221 declined and 46 remained the same. Turnover of the premier bourse fell 1 per cent to Tk 1,231 crore.
Stocks of Fortune Shoes traded mostly that worth Tk 253 crore followed by Beximco Ltd, Rahima Food Corporation, Bangladesh Shipping Corporation, and Orion Pharmaceuticals.
Apex Foods topped the gainers’ list that rose 9.96 per cent followed by BD Autocars, Bangladesh Monospool Paper Manufacturing, Tamijuddin Textile, and Kay and Que. Bangladesh National Insurance shed mostly that decreased 5 per cent followed by Green Delta Insurance, Meghan Pet Industries, Takaful Insurance, and Reliance Insurance.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also went down today. The CASPI, the main index of the bourse of the port city, fell 102 points, or 0.49 per cent, to 20,602. Among the traded 300 stocks, 83 rose, 182 slid and 35 remained unchanged.
