Stocks ended the week today marginally up with a rising trend of major indices at Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges on higher transactions. Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, rose to Taka 547.08 crore from Wednesday’s Taka 485.07 crore on the DSE. The daily trade volume also increased to 13.91 crore shares from Wednesday’s 12.43 crore shares.
DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), settled at 5,813.80 after gaining 11.76 points over the previous session. The blue-chip DS30 and the Shariah DSES also followed the same trend with 5.13 points up at 2,171.82 and with 1.12 points up at 1,343.65 respectively. At the DSE, out of the day’s 336 securities, prices of 147 securities closed higher against 138 losing issues while 45 remained unchanged.
The top five gainers at DSE were BSRM Limited, Asia Pacific Insurance, Western Marine Shipyard, Rupali Bank and Rahim Text while the top five losers were Premier Bank, Central Insurance, Standard Bank, Reliance Insurance and Sonali Ansh.
