Stocks continue to gain on higher participation

Stocks finished the fourth consecutive session of the week on Wednesday with upward trend on higher participation as investors showed interest on large-cap securities.
The broader DSEX of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) finished the fourth session of the week 26.32 points up at 4594.68. The blue-chip DS30 and Shariah DSES followed it by 7.98 points up at 1762.29 and 4.02 points up at 1111 respectively.
Similarly, the prime CASPI index at Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) was 82.06 points up at 14,125.79.
At DSE, the transaction volume of the total shares increased by 23.54 percent to 13.07 crore when total value of the shares rose by Taka 498.60 crore.
At DSE, out of the day’s 320 traded issues, 154 closed higher against 120 losing scrips. At CSE, 232 issues were traded while 128 issued higher against 69 issued lower.
The major gaining issues were IFIC Bank, Bank Asia, Orion Infusion, AIBL First Mutual Fund and Summit Alliance. The major losing companies were Grameen Scheme-2, SEML Lecture Equity, Modern Dying, Popular Life First Mutual Fund and Eastern Bank Limited. SPCL topped the turnover leaders followed by Lafarge Surma Cement, BSRM Steel and MJL BD.
