Stocks close week up with higher transactions

Stocks closed the week on Thursday upward with rising trend of all major price indices at Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges on higher transactions.
The daily average trade value at DSE was 35.27 percent up at Taka 778.88 crore and the trade volume was 31.10 per cent up at 16.89 crore shares.
The broader DSEX of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the week with 16.74 points up at 5,435.01. The blue-chip DS30 and Shariah DSES also closed the week with 27.40 points up at 1,925.76 and with 15.03 points up at 1,265.75.
Out of the 347 traded securities, 111 closed higher against 213 losing issues when 19 remained unchanged.
During the week, the top five gainers were Central Pharmaceuticals Limited, VFS Thread Dyeing Limited, Meghna Cement Mills Limited, Summit Power Limited and Uttara Power Limited.
The five major losing companies were Legacy Footwear, Style Craft, Intech Limited, Republic Insurance Company and BD Autocars.
The top five turnover leaders were Khulna Power Company, United Power Generation and Distribution Company, Summit Power, Dragon Sweater and Spinning and Active Fine Chemicals.
Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed the week up, with its major CASPI index ending 117.27 points higher at 16,777.63. Like DSE, most of the issues traded here closed higher when both the trade value and volume of shares increased.
