Stock market closed week Thursday up despite unstable transactions during most of the trading sessions, with investors focusing on large-cap stocks.
The broader index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) finished the week 39.31 points up at 4577.57 when the blue-chip DS30 advanced by 23.69 points to 1795.20 and the Shariah DSES closed 11.85 points up at 1123.04.
Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended the week in green, with its major CASPI index closing 10.71 points up at 14070.20.
During the week, the daily average trade value rose by nearly 13.0 percent to Taka 443.30 crore and the average trade volume increased by 23.34 percent to 10.96 crore shares when majority of the issues trade closed up.
Like previous weeks, the trading activities remained around large-cap stocks when nearly 93.0 percent of the week’s total trade was captured by the larger companies. New stocks were in the second position with getting 4.69 percent of the entire trade.
Among the week’s 328 trade securities, 164 ended higher when 132 were down and 32 static. The top advancing securities of the week were Renwick, Gemini Sea Food, Northern Jute, Usmania Glass and Standard Insurance.
