Stocks closed the week on Thursday upward with rising trend of major indices at Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges on higher activities of some large-cap securities.
The broader DSEX of the DSE finished the week with 14.30 points up at 5,265.32. The Shariah DSES closed the week with 2.59 points up at 1,209.38. But the blue-chip DS30 closed the week with 1.67 points down at 1,842.11.
Out of the 349 issues traded at the DSE, 176 issues gained against 135 losing issues.
During the week, the daily average trade value decreased by 26.15 percent to Taka 377.36 crore and the average trade volume fell by 36.30 percent to 9.57 crore shares.
The top five gainers of the week were Daffodil Computers, Shahjibazar Power, Anlima Yarn Dyeing, Rupali Insurance and Green Delta Insurance. The major losing issues of the week were Legacy Footwear, National Tea Company, ML Dyeing, Keya Cosmetics and Savar Refractories.
The top five turnover leaders were United Power Generation and Distribution, Square Pharmaceuticals, Khulna Power Company, Meghna Life Insurance and JMI Syringes and Medical Devices.
Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed the week up with its major CASPI index ending13.40 points higher at 16,138.98.
