Stocks close week down despite higher transactions

Stocks closed the week down on Thursday with falling trends of all major price indices at Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges despite higher the daily transactions.
The broader DSEX of the DSE finished the week with 73.63 points down at 5,500.62. The blue-chip DS30 and Shariah DSES also followed the same trend with 38.65 points down at 1,919.88 and with 7.29 points down at 1,271.37 respectively.
During the week, the daily average trade value increased by 47.56 percent to Taka 450.63 crore and the average trade volume rose by 18.05 percent to 20.17 crore shares.
Out of the 345 issues traded on DSE, 107 gained against 223 losing issues.
The top five gainers of the week were National Life Insurance, Monno Ceramics Industries, Intech Limited, Khulna Power Company and Aziz Pipes.
The major losing issues of the week were National Housing Finance and Investment, United Power Generation and Distribution Company, IFIL Islamic Mutual Fund-1, Bangladesh Submarine Cable Company and Mithun Knitting and Dying.
The top five turnover leaders were Active Fine Chemical, Khulna Power Company, BBS Cables, IFAD Autos and United Power Generation and Distribution Company.
Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed the week down, with its major CASPI index ending 20.09 points lower at 16,999.80.
