Stocks close week down

Stocks finished the week down today with falling trends of all major price indices at Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges as the daily transactions declined amid volatility in large-cap securities.
The broader DSEX of the DSE finished the week with 133.52 points down at 5,326.39. The blue-chip DS30 and Shariah DSES also followed the same trend with 45.49 points down at 1,902.98 and with 36.20 points down at 1,233.22 respectively.
Out of the 353 issues traded on DSE, 52 gained against 280 losing issues. During the week, the daily average trade value declined by 16.85 per cent to Taka 334.70 crore and the average trade volume fell by 12.62 per cent to 7.02 crore shares when majority of the traded issues closed up.
The top five gainers of the week were Eastern Cables, Standard Insurance, Kay & Que, Green Delta Insurance and GlaxoSmithKline(GSK) Bangladesh Limited.
The major losing issues of the week were British American Tobacco, Dutch-Bangla Bank, Heidelberg Cement Bangladesh, RN Spinning Mills and Takaful Islami Insurance.
The top five turnover leaders were United Power Generating & Distributing, British American Tobacco Bangladesh, Gremeenphone Ltd, Fortune Shoes and Monno Ceramic Industries.
Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed the week down, with its major CASPI index ending 432.54 points lower at 16,307.89.
