Stocks close week down

Stocks closed the week down on Thursday with falling trend of all major price indices at Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges due to lower activities of some large-cap securities.
The broader DSEX of the DSE finished the week with 24.70 points down at 5,281.25. The blue-chip DS30 and Shariah DSES also followed the same trend with 7.41 points down at 1861.56 and with 4.08 points down at 1,223.47 respectively.
Out of the 349 issues traded on the DSE, 117 gained against 206 losing issues.
During the week, the daily average trade value decreased by 4.04 percent to Taka 630.78 crore and the average trade volume fell by 1.22 percent to 14.89 crore shares.
The top five gainers of the week were – Monno Jute Stafflers, Glaxo Smith Kline (GSK) Bangladesh, Rangpur Dairy and Food Products, Rupali Life Insurance and IT Consultants. The major losing issues of the week were Kohinoor Chemicals, Khulna Power, Confidence Cement, Aman Feed and Bangas.
The top five turnover leaders were – Khulna Power Company, Saiham Textile Mills, United Power Generation and Distribution, SK Trims and Industries and Intech Limited.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed the week down, with its major CASPI index ending 102.37 points lower at 16,132.32.
