Stocks close week down

Stocks finished the week down on Thursday with falling trends of all major price indices at Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges as the daily transactions declined amid volatility in large-cap securities.
The broader DSEX of the DSE finished the week with 53.49 points down at 5,381.52. The blue-chip DS30 and Shariah DSES also followed the same trend with 29.63 points down at 1,896.07 and with 22.21 points down at 1,243.54 respectively.
Out of the 349 issues traded on DSE, 95 gained against 221 losing issues. During the week, the daily average trade value declined by nearly 34.50 per cent to Taka 510.17 crore and the average trade volume fell by 23.50 per cent to 12.93 crore shares.
The top five gainers of the week were Northern Insurance, Beach Hatchery, EMERALDOIL, Al Haj Textile and ISNLTD. The major losing issues of the week were ACFL, Summit Power, EHL, ARGONDENIM, SP Ceramics and Imam Button.
The top five turnover leaders were KPCL, Summit Power, UPGDCL, DSSL and VFSTDL.
Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed the week down, with its major CASPI index ending 239.91 points lower at 16,537.72.
