Stocks bounce back after Sunday’s losing session

Stock markets returned to the positive trend on Monday driven mainly by trading activities around some large-cap securities after passing a marginal losing session on Sunday.
The country’s main stock market, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) yesterday saw marginal loss after witnessing up in 13 consecutive sessions that began on August 31.
The broader index DSEX of DSE finished the session 10.55 points up at 4683.99. The blue-chip DS30 and Shariah DSES followed it by 2.90 up at 1771.50 and 1.71 up at 1122.63 respectively.
Similarly, the prime CASPI index at Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) was 67.05 points up at 14,396.46.
The transaction at DSE was 19.93 crore shares and total value of the share was Taka 552.93 crore.
At DSE, out of the day’s 322 traded issues, price of 175 securities closed higher against 103 losing issues. At CSE, 257 issues were traded of which 137 closed higher against 77 closing lower.
The major gaining issues were Apex Spinning, Miracle Industries, Yeakin Polymer, Tosrifa Industries and Bangladesh Shipping Corporation. The major losing companies were Monno Stafflers, RD Food, Renwick Ja, Apex Food and Samata Leather.
