Journos attacked: Stern action against attackers

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mohammad Javed Patwary has assured of stern action against attackers who beat and stabbed the journalists during their professional duty on Saturday.
The IGP assured the victims after visiting a polling station at Banani of the capital at around in the afternoon.
The IGP said, “I’m not informed of such an incident yet, but I like to say if such an incident truly happened, then I ask the authorities concerned to investigate the matter. Strict action will be taken against those who launched the attack.”
Meanwhile, Director General (DG) of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Benazir Ahmed has assured of taking step against attack on journalists including Mustafizur Rahman Sumon, a staff of internet-based news portal ‘Agami’.
He said, “Strict actions would be taken against main culprits after identifying them through checking footages of the incident.”
RAB DG assured this after visiting Mustafiz at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) on Saturday noon.
He said, “I have already instructed to investigate the incident. Stern actions would be taken against those involved in the incident.”
It has been alleged that the attacks were carried out by Chhatra League men.
At least three reporters and a photojournalist on duty have been assaulted allegedly by Bangladesh Chhatra League men at separate polling centres during the voting in the Dhaka South and Dhaka North city corporations election.
