UNB, Dhaka :
Law Minister Anisul Huq on Thursday said the government is making all-out efforts both at lower and higher courts to bring back BNP leader Tarique Rahman to justice who faces a number of cases.
“The government is very honest in this regard,” the minister said while talking to reporters after distributing furniture for the hostel of Government Titumir College in the capital.
Replying to a question, the Law Minister branded BNP as a terrorist outfit as they set ablaze the village home of Justice Quazi Reza-Ul Hoque in Feni who imposed a ban on media coverage of Tarique, now
living in London, following a writ petition. “It’s their old practice… no good work could be expected from them.”
Asked about the government’s plan to bring back Tarique Rahman, Anis said, “It’ll be better not to disclose before you (journalists) right now the legal process so far taken in this regard.”
Referring to the government move, he said, “I’ve informed the British High Commissioner here that the government won’t tolerate the disrespectful statements distorting the history of Bangladesh Liberation War by Tarique.”
He further said, “We request the British government not to give Tarique Raman the right to make such disparaging statement over our history living in their soil.”
