State Minister for Public Administration Ismat Ara Sadeque said the government has taken initiatives to smooth pension process for removing sufferings of retired government officials and employees.
She made the comment while addressing a discussion at the Abasar Bhaban in the city, an official release said.
Bangladesh Retired Government Employees Welfare Association organized the discussion on the occasion of the International Day of Older Persons-2017.
Senior Secretary of the Public Administration Ministry Dr Md Mozammel Haque Kahn, among others, addressed the discussion with president of the association Md Mahe Alam in the chair.
She said, “The number of older persons has increased because of enhancing life-expectancy. So, we have to take more initiatives to meet the needs of elderly people.”
