Steps taken to construct 2nd Bhairab, Titas rail bridges, JS told

The government has undertaken initiatives to construct 2nd Bhairab and Titas railway bridges over the rivers Meghna and Titas with Indian Line of Credit (LoC).
Railways Minister M Mazibul Haque told this in the Jatiya Sangsad while replying to a question from treasury bench member M Abdul Latif.
“The government is working sincerely to upgrade the 320-kilometer Dhaka- Chittagong railway corridor to double lines, of which, the work on 124-kilometer double lines has already accomplished,” the minister said.
He said the government has undertaken initiatives to construct the rest 196-kilometer double lines railway line with ADB and JICA funds. The ADB has agreed to provide fund for construction of the double lines railway track on Tongi-Bhairabbazar section.
Mazibul said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina already inaugurated the 64-kilometer Laksam-Chinki Astana double lines project on Dhaka-Chittagong railway corridor on April 18, 2015. Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is financing the project.
Besides, the government has also undertaken a project for remodeling of Chittagong Station Yard with JICA’s fund as part of the development of Bangladesh Railway, he said.
Meanwhile, Asian Development Bank (ADB) agreed to provide fund for construction of the 72-kilometer Akhaura-Laksam dual gauge double lines along with improvement of signaling system on Dhaka-Chittagong section.
