UNB, Sangsad :
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday said the government will take actions against BNP chief Khaleda Zia as per court directives for her non-appearance in the trial court.
“Actions will be taken against her as per law, we’ll have to follow the court orders,” she said.
The Prime Minister was responding to a supplementary question from JP MP Ziauddin Ahmed during PM’s question-answer session in Parliament.
“We always respect the court and the rule of law, things will happen as per law and this will be maintained…we’ll do whatever needed for that,” Hasina said.
She said, Khaleda Zia showed the thump to the court by disobeying the court orders. “She won’t abide by the court orders, she won’t appear in the court, this is what is going on now, you’re destroying the dignity of the court because of this no one will obey court orders in the future,” Hasina told the House.
Talking about the contempt of court by the BNP chief, she said, “This will also be done according to the directives and steps of the court, action against this will be taken as per the court order.”
About the non-appearance of the BNP chief in the court yesterday, Hasina said she has no idea about this. “Her (Khaleda) lawyers said she lacks security in the court, she has to be given proper security.”
The Prime Minister questioned why the person who is killing people and
hurling petrol bombs has to be given security. “What an unfortunate matter, please think about it, we’ve taken measurers so that the rule of law continues, but she didn’t appear,” she said.
About the killing of people in the name of movement and hurling petrol bombs, the Prime Minister said the trial of the killings will be held as per the existing laws of the country.
She said the intention of the BNP chief is to go to jail to avert uncomfortable situation from the mass people as she has been killing innocent people and destroying the academic life of 15 lakh examinees of the country.
“She’s now isolated from the mass people, she’s now scared of people, now she feels that jail is the safest place for her, she might wanted to see herself arrested and sent her to jail, that’s why she has chosen to go to Nazimuddin Road (Dhaka Central Jail),” Hasina added.
Terming the recent activities of Khaleda Zia is nothing but drama, she said that the BNP chief wanted some publicity in the mass media from home and abroad.
“She’s doing this drama as she has the habit to do so just to get some coverage in the media from home and abroad and get some sympathy from people as the mass people are already very much angry with her,” she added.
The Leader of the House also said she had talks with some former MPs of BNP and they informed her that they cannot like these destructive activities, including killing and hurling petrol bombs also. “No body supports her destructive activities,” she said.
