One Ibadat Shaikh (32) was arrested from the village Bhattaprotap of Baraipara Union Parishad under Sadar Upazila in Bagerhat district by the police of Bagerhat Sadar Model PS on Sunday on the charge of committing rape with his step daughter. He was sent to the court on the same day at noon, confirmed by K M Azizul Haq, Officer-in-Charge of Bagerhat Model PS. In this connection mother of the victim lodged a case with the PS on Sunday morning accusing Ibadat Shaik.
It is stated in the case that on Saturday after noon mother of the victim girl went to Fakirhat Bazar (under Fakirhat Upazila) taking her Two younger children to repair her spectacles keeping her daughter in the house alone.
Taking the opportunity accused Ibadat Shaikh committed rape with her step daughter forcibly. After returning home the mother found her daughter is crying. When the mother asked the daughter to know the reasons behind her crying she (daughter) disclosed the matter to the mother. In the following morning the mother lodged a rape case with the Model PS against her husband Ibadat Shaikh. Then the police raided the village and arrested the rapist.
