Court Correspondent :A Dhaka court on Thursday recorded the judicial statements of Bakhtiar Alam Rony’s two more friends, who were with him during the shooting incident on April 13 in the city.Magistrate Nuru Mia of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka recorded the statements of his friends Tiger Kamal and Jahangir. Both of them gave their statements to the court voluntarily on Thursday noon. Kamal Mahmud, another friend of Rony made judicial statement to the CMM Court on Wednesday.Tiger Kamal told the court that he was with Rony during the incident. They were returning home after drinking excessive wine when their car faced traffic jam in New Eskaton area of the city. The auto-rickshaw was in front of their car and they were trying to over take the auto-rickshaw. But the auto-rickshaw driver did not follow their signal and that made Rony angry, for which he shot at the auto-rickshaw. Kamal raised objection at the incident when Rony said, “No problem, I have shot blank”. Later, Rony dropped Kamal at his residence and set out for his residence.On April 13, Yakub Sikder, driver of a CNG-run auto-rickshaw of the Janakantha and Abdul Halim, a rickshaw-puller received bullet injuries as Rony, son of Awami League lawmaker Pinu Khan, fired at people indiscriminately in Dilu Road. Halim died on April 15 while Yakjub succumbed to his injuries on April 23 during treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Halim’s mother Monwara Begum filed the case with Ramna Model Police Station on April 15. The case was shifted to the Detective Branch of Police on May 24. Later, detectives arrested Rony on May 31.
