State Minister for Youth and Sports Zahid Ahsan Russell MP hailed the players and officials of Bangladesh Special Olympic team for their outstanding success in the just concluded Special Olympic Games in Abu Dhabi.
In a congratulatory message on Saturday, the State Minister said he is equally delighted and proud with the nation for the energetic success of the special Olympic Team. The World has been surprised by the outstanding displaying by the boys and girls and hoped they would bring more good results for the country.
The State Minister said they have a plan to arrange long-term training for the players in the near future.
Earlier, on Friday night, the Bangladesh Special Olympic team returned home from Abu Dhabi after taking part in the Special Olympic Games. State Minister for Youth and Sports Zahid Ahsan Russell welcomed the players and officials of the team at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
Bangladesh Special Olympic team won 22 gold, 10 silver and six bronze medals.
About 7,000 athletes from 190 countries took part in the eight-day meet.
A 139-member contingent is representing Bangladesh in 11 disciplines – athletics, swimming, bouchi, table tennis, badminton, handball (women’s), handball (men’s unified), football (men’s and women’s unified), volleyball and basketball (unified).
