American science fiction action Star Trek Beyond is all set to release in Dhaka today. The thirteenth instalment in the Star Trek franchise and the third instalment in the reboot series, following Star Trek (2009) and Star Trek Into Darkness (2013), will be released today at the Blockbuster Cinemas of Jamuna Future Park in the capital.
The film is directed by Justin Lin from a screenplay by Simon Pegg and Doug Jung, based on the series Star Trek, created by Gene Roddenberry.
Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto reprise their roles as Captain James T. Kirk and Commander Spock, with Pegg, Karl Urban, Zoe Saldana, John Cho and Anton Yelchin reprising their roles from the previous films. Idris Elba and Sofia Boutella also joined the cast.
The story follows after the three years since the events of Star Trek Into Darkness (2013) transpired and the USS Enterprise crew explores the furthest reaches of uncharted space, where they encounter a new ruthless enemy who puts them and everything the Federation stands for to the test.
Beyond marks one of the final film appearances of Yelchin, who died in a car accident a month before its scheduled release. The film is dedicated to the memory of Yelchin as well as fellow Star Trek actor Leonard Nimoy, who died during pre-production.
Premiers in Sydney on July 7, the film was released in the US just a week back.
