Sony Cinema Hall in Mirpur-2 has been modernised to Star Cineplex’s Sony Square. It will be open to the public from August 20. Mohammad Hossain, the
former head of Sony Cinema Hall, said, “Before that, the Mirpur branch of Star Cineplex will be formally inaugurated on August 19.” Preparations are underway for the opening, mentioned Sankar Kumar Das, the assistant manager of Star Cineplex’s Sony Square.
In February 2019, a contract was signed between Sony Cinema Hall and Star Cineplex, which allowed Star Cineplex authorities to lease Sony Cinema Hall in Mirpur for 15 years. There will be three screens and 800 seats at Star Cineplex’s Sony Square.
The ticket prices will be determined based on the affordability of Mirpur residents.
