Stalkers have become more desperate in Khulna than the previous times. A mosque Khadem was allegedly killed by some stalkers at dead night on Saturday (on January 19, 2019) at city’s East Baniakhamar area following an altercation centering a trifle matter. Police arrested seven of the accused stalkers in this connection. The accused arrested persons gave confessional statement before the learned Metropolitan Magistrate Tariqul Islam, IO of the concerned case SI Shariful Alam said.
Masud Gazi was the Khadem of Mistripara Jame Mosque and he was also an electrician, local people said.
The key accused of this murder case are – Sagor Hossain, 21, son of Md. Sogir Hossain, Nasiruddin, 22, son of Sobhan, Atiar Rahman, 22, son of GM Mahatab Hossain, Kawsar Sheikh, 24, son of Abul Kalam Sheikh, Sohag Akon, 20, son of Shah Alam Akon, Imran Sheikh alias Imam, 17, son of Khalil Sheikh, Md. Nazmul Talukdar, 22, son of Nanna Talukdar and Hridoy, 20, son of Delwar Hossain Dulal. Among these eight accused seven were arrested by the police and Hridoy is on the flee, till filing this report on January 23, 2019 at around 12.25 pm.
Eve-teasing (Sexual harassment) by the stalkers have been increasing in Khulna city and at Nine upazila areas of Khulna district. School and college going girls are in fear of molesting by some stalkers who often gossip, tease girls, even some girl-students can not go to their educational institutions due to teasing by the desperate stalkers. Drug trading, stealing, and stalking are common features of Khulna region. Members of Law Enforcing agencies can not take any action against the culprits because the victimized persons dare not to give complain specifically to the law enforcers in fear of threat by ferocious extortionists, stalkers, drug traders and some marked terrorists, sources said.
On condition of anonymity, a guardian of Daulatpur Pabla area said, My daughter has stopped to go to School in fear of teasing by some stalkers.
It is alleged that the stalkers gather, make gossip, take drugs and tease girls at different places of Daulatpur Pabla area. Particularly they gather at Daulatpur Pabla Shobuj Shangho cross road, Keshoblal road, Kundupara, Sharif Amzad road, in front of Pabla Ideal School, Afiluddin School, Sher-E-Bangla girls’ School, Pabla Modhyapara, Pabla Sahapara and Kobirbattala Rony Villa road,Tootpara, Baniakhamar areas under Khulna Kotwali police station, Zoragate, Housing bazaar, Near T&T office, Goalkhali, Noyabati, Kashipur Padma gate, Khalishpur Industrial areas under Khalishpur police station, Sonadanga bus stand, New Market, Khanjahan Nagor, Sonadanga residential area under Sonadanga police station, Daulatpur Pabla Notun Rastar more Shaid Sheikh Abu Sufian road, Railygate, Pabla Bonikpara, Pabla Dattobari, Chunnur Battala, Pabla Khan para, Pabla Bairagi para, Deana Jessore more,Deana Asader more and Deana Mukul Vandar and Daulatpur Anjuman road (Amtala intersection) area under Daulatpur police station.
Mohammad Ehsan Shah, Deputy Police Commissioner (DC, South) of KMP told the journalists that a special team led by the Acting Police Commissioner of Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) Sardar Rakibul Islam along with he (DC, South) and Officer-in-Charge of Khulna Kotwali police station Md. Humayun Kabir conducted drives at different places of Khulna and Satkhira districts and they arrested the seven accused stalkers on Sunday, within 12 hours of the occurrence.
Earlier, Yasin Ali Gazi, elder brother of the deceased Masud Gazi filed a case with Khulna Kotwali police station accusing 8 specific persons and 8 others unnamed persons. The case number is 61.
Police, family sources and eyewitnesses said, on Saturday night, Khadem Masud Gazi was returning towards his residence after performing his Esha prayer from Mistribazar Mosque, after coming out of the mosque, he purchased curd while some ( 10 to 15) stalkers obstructed him. All on a sudden, following an altercation centering a trifle matter, the stalkers hit on the head of Masud with bricks and beat him mercilessly for which he lost his sense. The stalkers fled away from the scene. Critically injured Masud was taken to Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH) where the doctor on duty declared him dead at around 1.35 am on Sunday.
Md. Humayun Kabir, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Khulna Kotwali police station said, police is trying their best for arresting the other accused persons of Masud murder case.
