More than 13.23 lakh examinees or their guardians have registered to get results of Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations to be published online or via SMS today.
Monjurul Kabir, Senior Systems Analyst of Dhaka Education Board revealed the information on Saturday.
“This is for the first time that we have pre-registered candidates, and will send their results on their mobile phones,” he said.
“People who have pre-registered will receive results within 12:00pm and 1:00pm on Sunday,” Dhaka Education Board Chairman Prof Ziaul Haque said.
All preparations for publishing the results have been completed, said Prof Ziaul, also head of the inter-board coordination committee, adding that this year students will not be able to collect their results from educational institutions.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will announce the results through video conference in the morning, and Education Minister Dipu Moni will later hold a press conference about the results through Facebook live, said Mohammad Abul Khair, Public Relations Officer of the Education Ministry.
It is also, for the first time that in the last eight years, the government had not been able to publish results within 60 days of completing a public examination as schools remained closed due to the Covid-19 situation.
The SSC exams began on February 3 this year, with the theoretical and practical tests ending on February 27 and on March 6 respectively.
The government earlier planned to publish the results on May 7 or 8, but could not publish it due to school closure.
All educational institutions have remained closed since March 17, and the government has now extended the closure until June 15 to check further spread of Covid-19.
Some 20,47,779 students took part in the SSC and equivalent examinations held in 3,512 centres this year.
Like the previous years, examinees can also get the results from the website of Intermediate and Secondary Education Boards Bangladesh under the Education Ministry and also from the websites of their respective education boards.
