A Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinee was stabbed to death over a cricket match at Jagati in the suburb of the district town on Monday.
The deceased was identified as Imran, 16, son of Hitu of Colony Para in Jagati area. He had been sitting for this year’s SSC exam from Kalkoli High School.
Police and witnesses said Imran had an altercation with Emon, son of Shahadat of Gabarpara, during a cricket match at Jagati High School ground in the afternoon.
At one stage, Emon stabbed Imran with a knife, leaving him injured.
He was taken to Kushtia General Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
