A 23-member Sri Lankan Football team arrived in the capital on Wednesday morning to participate in the Group A matches of the AFC U-19 Championship beginning on Friday at the Bangabandhu National Stadium here.
The Lankan team, which comprises 15 players and eight officials, reached Hazrat Shah Jalal International Airport in Dhaka at 11:35 am by a flight of Mihin Lanka Airlines.
Earlier, Uzbekistan U-19 Football team arrived in Dhaka on Tuesday afternoon while the another team of the four-nation meet, apart from hosts Bangladesh, Bhutan was the first team to reach the capital on Saturday.
Hosts Bangladesh, put in Group A of the AFC U-19 Championship along with Uzbekistan, Sri Lanka and Bhutan, will play Sri Lanka on the opening day (Oct 2) at 6pm while Uzbekistan will play Bhutan in the inaugural match at 3pm on the day.
In the remaining group matches, Bangladesh will play Bhutan on October 4 at 6pm while they will face Uzbekistan on October 6 in their last group match at the same time.
Meanwhile, all the four participating teams — Bhutan, Bangladesh, Uzbekistan and Sri Lanka — made their practice in Dhaka and Savar on Wednesday.
The Bhutan team made their practice at BKSP in Savar on Wednesday from 8am to 9am, hosts Bangladesh at Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club from 3pm to 4pm, Uzbekistan team had their practices at the match venue Bangabandhu National Stadium (BNS) in Dhaka from 6pm to 7pm while Sri Lanka practiced at the BNS from 7pm.
Managers, coaches and captains of the all the four participating teams will address a press conference at the BFF conference room on from 2:30 pm on Thursday.
