Sri Lanka scored 264 for the loss of seven wickets in the allotted 50 overs against India in the ICC World Cup Cricket match at Headingley, Leeds on Saturday.
Already eliminated Sri Lanka faced an early debacle as they lost their four wickets just for 55 runs.
Angelo Mathews and Lahiru Thirimanne repaired the damage contributing together 124 runs
for the fifth wicket partnership before Thirimanne was caught behind by MS Dhoni off Hardik Pandya when Sri Lanka’s score was 179 for the loss of five wickets.
Thirimanne hit a fine 53. His 68-ball innings saw four fours.
Angelo Mathews and Dhananjaya de Silva built another notable partnership. They put on together 74 runs in the sixth wicket stand before Mathews was caught at the extra cover by Ravindra Jadeja off Jasprit Bumrah when Srilanka’s total was 253 for the loss of six wickets.
Mathews hit a magnificent 113. His 128-ball knock had 10 fours and two sixes. It was his 3rd ODI century.
Dhananjaya remained unbeaten with 29.
Jasprit Bumrah grabbed three wickets giving away 37 runs.
Ravindra Jadeja, Hardik Pandya, Kuldeep Yadav and Bhuvneshwar Kumar took one wicket each for 40,50, 58 and 73 runs respectively.
