Sports Reporter :Sri Lanka scored a modest 129 for the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs against United Arab Emirates in their first match of the Asia Cup Twenty20 at the flood-lit Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Thursday.Dinesh Chandimal and TM Dilshan, the two openers of Sri Lanka made a solid foundation contributing together 68 runs in the opening stand before TM Dilshan Dilshan was caught at the deep mid-wicket by Mohammad Usman off Amjad Javed.After dismissal of Dilshan, the Sri Lankan batsmen failed to build any notable partnership.Dinesh Chandimal hammered a superb 50. His 39-ball knock was laced with seven fours and one sixer. He was caught at the mid-wicket by Mohammad Shahzad off Amjad Javed when Sri Lanka’s score was 89 for the loss of three wickets.TM Dilshan made 27 from 28 balls featuring four fours.Besides, DS Jayasuriya and CK Kapugedera added 10 runs each to the Sri Lanka total.Amjad Javed grabbed three wickets at the cost of 25 runs while Mohammad Naveed and Mohammad Shahzad bagged a pair of wickets each instead of 27 runs each.Besides, Rohan Mustafa took one wicket for 17 runs.
