Sri Lanka restrict Bangladesh at 204 for 9

A disciplined bowling performance by the Sri Lankan bowlers restricted Bangladesh at a moderate total of 204 for 9 from their allotted 50 overs in the Arise Asia Cup being held on Thursday at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium at Mirpur in the city.
Batting first after winning the toss, the two openers Anamul Haque and Shamsur Rahman gave Bangladesh a good start contributing 74 runs for the opening stand.
But, Ajantha Mendis brought double struck on Bangladesh innings removing first opener Shamsur and then Mominul Haque.
The right-handed batsman Shamsur scored 39 runs before he was trapped leg before wicket while Mominul immediately returned to the pavilion beating clean bowled.
Left hand spinner Pinnaduwage Chaturanga de Silva joined the party taking the wicket of skipper Mushfiqur Rahim, leaving Bangladesh in trouble.
Opener Anamul Haque who scored a brilliant century against Pakistan in his previous match, missed another half century as he scored 49 runs off 86 balls with the help of two boundaries and one over boundary before he gave a simple catch to Lahiru
Thirimanne off Ashan Priyanjan delivery.
Later all rounders Nasir Hossain (30), Mahmudullah (30) added another useful 55 runs for the sixth wicket stand that helped Bangladesh to cross two hundred land mark.
Ashan Priyanjan, Thisara Perera, Suranga Lakmal and Ajantha Mendis bagged two wickets each giving away 11, 29, 32 and 55 runs respectively.
